There were many other challenges this week, including jaundice, a very sleepy baby (due to the jaundice), mastitis, and Amelia continued to lose weight instead of gaining weight (due to the sleeping, due to the jaundice). We had appointments every day or two with either the pediatrician or the lactation consultation. According to the lactation consultant, Amelia was "eating like a preemie” because she just didn’t have the stamina to take more than a few swallows at a time. This lead to a rather intensive feeding schedule with supplementation. The good news? It looks like we’ve turned a corner and most, if not all of this is behind us. Amelia has an appointment with her pediatrician tomorrow, and we’re hoping her weight is up!
We've had a lot of visitors this week, and many of our friends have supplied us with meals, which we greatly appreciate! It's been wonderful not having to worry about meals while we adjust to our new responsibilities.
Now for the good stuff! I’ve gotten many a request for more pictures. Be careful what you wish for!
First, one of the two family photos we have so far.
Grandma Marzen, Uncle Travis, and Grandma Brandau came to visit in the hospital.
Scott & DeNae came to visit us in the hospital and they brought me sushi! Thanks guys!
Cousin Mya meeting Amelia for the first time. Mya wasn't a fan of her Mom and Dad holding another baby at first! She wanted them to put the baby in the pack n' play and told them so repeatedly. She eventually warmed up to Amelia and even let us take a couple photos of her.
Our friends Brad and Erin came to visit. Amelia holds second place for the baby who lasted the longest in Brad's arms without crying. Amelia seemed to like Erin just fine. ;-)
Kelli, Erich and Elia came to visit. Miss Elia was smitten with Amelia. Kelli made us some of her famous cookies.
Grandma Susie and Uncle Travis came to visit this weekend.
Here is Amelia and Momma at what would have been 40 weeks gestation!
Some of the few photos we have that include Mom and Dad
After she ate a nice meal today, we took some photos of Amelia. We're having fun capturing her many faces! :)
OMG Rebecca you look awesome! Sorry you all had some sleepless nights. Hopefully shes on the up and up with weight gain now. Mastitis is NOT fun I hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAmelia looks a lot like Tom in the pic in the basket where shes winking :)
Shes adorable.Hope you all can get some sleep!
