In the beginning of December, Tom was in Orlando for a business trip. Amelia and I flew down to meet him and we went to visit our friends Sara and Brad and their new little girl Autumn in St. Augustine. I was a bit terrified about flying solo with a baby, but it actually went fairly well with minimal tears from either of us. When we landed in Orlando, it was warm and sunny. We jumped in a rental car and headed northeast. And then it got foggy and chilly. Nice. Exactly the weather everyone wants from their Florida vacation. That night Tom tried to kill himself going "woods-ing" on a run-away golf cart. You'll have to ask him to tell you the story... Let's just say that riding on a golf cart using a maglite to see where you are going at 11:00 p.m.
cannot ever be a good idea. Someone generally gets hurt or sick on our family vacations, and we got that out of the way right away. (I hope you can hear the dripping sarcasm.) On the plus side, an ER visit was not required.
The following morning Tom, Brad, and Brad's neighbor Fred all went fishing. The weather? Still foggy and cold. Sara and I stayed home with the girls that day and the boys brought us home supper (which Fred cooked for us - what a guy!).
The next day we all went downtown to browse the shops. The weather improved the rest of the trip and Amelia got to do what she really wanted to do: visit the beach. Twice. She LOVED the beach and the surf, although it took her a bit to figure out that she couldn't pick up sand very well with a pincher grasp. :) We got some wonderful photos and had a fantastic time. We will definitely be going back!

After a slow start, Amelia and Murphy became BFFs. |

Murphy better get used to this. It's only a matter of time before this is his world... |
