Fall Fun

First, sorry for the duplication in photos from FB.

During the last three weeks, Amelia has gone from having 2 teeth, to having 6 teeth.  She's become increasingly mobile and has started scooting along furniture, although she still prefers to plop down, crawl, and then climb up at the new location.

Amelia had her 9 month appointment, where we learned she has an ear infection in both ears.  She had been a little fussier than normal, especially when she slept, but we chalked it up to teeth.  No tugging on her ears or acting like they were bothering her at all.  Woops!  She's on antibiotics now, so that should hopefully kick it.  Now, if we can just keep her from getting all the illnesses that are being passed around daycare...

Here are her 9 month stats:

Height: 27 3/4"; 50th percentile
Weight: 21 lbs 6oz; 85th percentile
Head Circumference: 46 cm; 92nd percentile

Here is a photo of Amelia at 1 week old, compared to a photo of her currently at 40 weeks old.

When Amelia was first born,  everyone said "Enjoy it, time will go by fast."  Truth be told, I thought these people we a bit full of it.  However, it was true.  Every word.  Fastest 9 months of my life.  So all of you ladies out there who are expecting your first baby or have just had number one - ENJOY it!  Time will go by fast!  And I'm okay with it if you think I'm full of crap.  You report back in 6 months. ;-)

Amelia has discovered the clothes dryer.  Better than T.V.!
(At least for the 60 seconds or so it captivates her attention.)

Uncle Tim came to visit and read Amelia some bedtime stories.

Hanging out with Mommy!
Happy Girl!

We took Amelia to Center Grove Orchard to see all there is to see.  It has been a few years since we've been there, and boy have they expanded!  I look forward to taking her back when she's a bit older.  That place is a 4-year-olds paradise!  Amelia's favorite part - the goats!  I'm not sure what she thought they were, but she could have watched them all day.

Amelia checking out the goats.

I was happy they are highly domestic and well fed goats.  No fingers were nibbled!

Amelia kept giggling.  She thought the goats were hilarious!

After the pumpkin patch, Mommy and Daddy went jogging and stopped to take lots of pictures.

"Look Mom, I'm the stair master!"

A crummy cell phone photo,
but I had to add it because it shows our little terror climbing the stairs!

(And no, she doesn't really look like a linebacker.
That's just the angle of a responsible mom taking a photo
quick before snatching her kid off the stairs.)

Amelia has a little buddy named Patrick.  Patrick may be small, but he's feisty (he's also 2 months younger)!  He regularly crawls up behind Amelia, gets up on his knees, and then tackles Amelia and lays her out flat.  She doesn't even fight back.  It is super funny to watch!

Amelia & Patrick hanging out after church.

Halloween!  Amelia wasn't so sure about her costume at first, but she got over it.  It was chilly out, so it was good that she was dressed nice and warm.
Sad Skunk

Amelia and her friend Taylor.  Adorable!

I think this is my favorite photo from the night.  So happy!

Skunk Butt!

Amelia's friend Patrick was a skunk too.  How cute are they?!?

She realized we were opening the door for trick-or-treaters and she tried to escape!
Roadkill?  Must be someone's bedtime!

Photo Fun!

During the last month, we've made an effort to get the camera back out to capture all the fun things Amelia is doing.

She's crawling EVERYWHERE and is curious about everything.  She's helping us baby-proof our house in a hurry!  The first day she lit up when Tom got home from work and then crawled to him just melted our hearts.  She crawled to his feet, put her hand on his shoe, sat up, and grinned at him.  So sweet!

Amelia LOVES other babies, and is constantly touching their heads and faces.

She's Miss Independent and constantly wants to feed herself, which is tough because she only has two teeth, so she can only chew on foods she can gum to a pulp.  Speaking of teeth, she's got those two bottom teeth in, and 6 bumps on the top.  I think I'd rather they all come in at once and get this over with, but I really am not looking forward to it either way.  Sounds like pure torture, for all 3 of us.  We're definitely going to miss that gummy smile!

Amelia is "talking" a lot, but she's not saying much. :)  We think she's trying to say "bottle" and "hi."  However, nothing comes even close to approximating "Mommy" and "Daddy" yet.  Sometimes she will whisper (not sure why), but she usually does it with a mischievous grin on her face.  Who knows what's going on in that little head...

Tom & Amelia having a stare down after he got home from work.
This usually ends with Amelia laughing.
Amelia and her friend Taylor.  We often amuse ourselves by putting words to their expressions.
(Hey, you've gotta get your kicks where you can!)
It looks like Taylor is pleading for help in this photo before she's attacked.

We decided to have a photo shoot in our friends Brad and Leona's backyard.  They have a beautiful flower garden!  Amelia hasn't been in the grass a lot because the summer was so hot.  So, she wasn't too sure of herself.  She was also very curious about her new surroundings. The following photos give you a good idea how that photo shoot went...

"Oh look, dirt!"
"Look Mom, I found some mulch!"

"Those meanies took my mulch away!"

"A petunia?  Delish!"

"I wonder how this one tastes?"

"Fine.  I'll snack on Daddy's jacket."
Getting worn out from exploring... Finally, some good photos! :)

And, my personal favs!

Amelia has discovered the edge of the bed.  She thinks it's great fun to play there.  No fear.
"I'm supposed to stay away from THIS edge Mom?"
"But why?!?"

We went hiking with some friends at Ledges State Park on September 30th.  The colors were beautiful!  You can't beat good scenery mixed with great friends!

Amelia and her porter, Brad.

Playing in the living room.

Look at those crooked teeth!

She sticks her tongue out all the time.
We think she's rubbing it on those bottom two teeth.

On a mission...
Best chew toy EVER! (to her parents dismay...)

Bath time!  There's that tongue again!

We read to Amelia every day, but usually in her bedroom.  Last Friday Grandma came and read this stack of books to her at least 3 times.  Now they are the coolest toy. (And she's figured out how to take them all off the shelves, bonus!)  She'll sit and look at them and "read" to herself.  Adorable!

Our dog Chloe is not sure what to make of this jump in mobility!
