I am a BAD blogger. It looks like it has been about 3 months since I last blogged. But hey, we've been busy!
Amelia will be 8 months old next week! CRAZY!
At the end of July we went to Colorado. Amelia loved hiking. The longest hike we took her on was about 6 miles. She was so busy looking around that she didn't nap very much in her pack. So, in the end we were only able to hike every other day. On our "off" days, Amelia would wake up to eat and then would sleep until noon. It would rain by 2:00 every afternoon, so our outdoor activities were limited on these days. Fortunately, we stayed in a wonderful place,
Woodlands on Fall River, which was right on the river and far enough out of Estes Park to be somewhat peaceful. So, we read a lot and relaxed next to the river with good books while Amelia slept inside. We drank a lot of wine, and came back very refreshed. All in all, not a bad trip!

One of the hummingbirds outside our condo. We're going to have to get a hummingbird feeder. I could watch them for hours! |

Watching Daddy do some work. |
In August, I had surgery on an umbilical hernia that developed while I was pregnant with Amelia. I was given strict instructions not to pick her up for 4-6 weeks. We're about four weeks in, and I'm feeling much better. No ab exercises, but at least I feel like I can be a good mom again. Tom has a new found appreciation of what single parenthood is like, and now realizes why I don't get a lot done when he travels. :)
August also brought the return of the school year. I am back at work, Amelia is back at daycare. I really don't mind working, although I wish I could work just three days a week and experience a bit of both worlds. It does make the weekends and the time we get to spend with Amelia precious. The weekends are a bit too few and far between for my liking.
My brother Tim and his wife Amber have a new addition to their family,
little Addilyn Rose. We don't have any photos of Amelia with Addilyn
yet, but it is just a matter of time until all the cousins are running
around together. We took some photos for them when we were visiting. Congrats to their family! She's adorable!

Amelia is getting huge.
She’s eating all sorts of solid food, and prefers to feed herself. However, she still has no teeth so finding
food she can feed herself is a challenge since most of her food must be
pureed.
Her current favorite mode of movement is what we call her
breaststroke crawl. It looks like a
breaststroke, and she pushes with one of her big toes. She can get up onto all fours, but can’t
figure out how to crawl in that position yet.
Her favorite things are puffs and baby cookies, fruit, her
bouncer, and all things that rattle.
He’s also starting to enjoy terrorizing the dogs and she giggles when
they lick her.
Amelia is already stealing things from other children, which
we saw the other night. Amelia stole
some food (not baby approved, I might add) from her 2-year-old friend Elia and
popped it right in her mouth. Thanks
Megan, for the photo evidence!
