Amelia will be 5 months old tomorrow! Crazy how time flies! Since I last blogged the end of the school year came and went. I (Rebecca) am home with Amelia until mid-August. We are certainly enjoying it, although I think Amelia found the other kids at daycare far more interesting than her Momma. She seems to get bored at home.
Last month Amelia had several firsts:
Her first experience with grass
Her first cereal. She was not a huge fan initially, but she got over her dislike.
First bite.
Not well received...
Messy messy!
Amelia is rolling, but not as a true form of motility yet. She's still not a huge fan of being on her tummy and gets REALLY mad if she rolls on to her tummy and gets stuck there. Her latest thing is rolling from her back to her tummy when she's sleeping and then screaming and flailing until someone rescues her, only to do it again a few minutes later. In true Amelia form, she did this rolling thing while Tom was out of state. As soon as he returns - she sleeps. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful, but REALLY? I'm not sure how she knows since I usually put her to bed at night. Sheesh!
Amelia DID roll in sequence at the Hammer's house the other night. (Back to belly to back to belly.) All of us grown-ups were impressed. Amelia seemed to wonder what the fuss was about. Unfortunately, Daddy missed it and Mommy didn't get it on video. :(
Amelia still prefers to stand over any other position, making the exersaucer and jumperoo (thanks Jean!) some of her favorite things. She also still enjoys her swing. She looks enormous in her swing, but it's rated to 25 lbs, so swing on Baby Girl, swing on.

Amelia has a couple of new friends. Our friends Stephen and Desi welcomed Taylor in May. Amelia is a lot larger than Taylor now (in girth, not so much in length), but in due time, I'm pretty sure it's Taylor who will have the upper hand. Our friends Scott and DeNae also welcomed a little girl, Reagan. But, since Reagan is pretty much brand new we have no pictures of the girls together yet.

And a few seconds later Amelia is ready to sock Taylor (or steal her flowery headband as it turns out) and Taylor is trying to bite Amelia (or maybe she's just hungry).
Amelia now weighs over 15 lbs, which I believe puts her close to the 50th percentile in weight. It's crazy to see her with these itty bitty new babies and think that 5 short months ago she was that size!

Kelli and Elia came to visit this week. Elia enjoyed "feeding" Amelia. Luckily, Amelia wasn't too hungry because the bottle never stayed in her mouth very long! Amelia had a blow-out while she was here, and apparently it's now Elia's new favorite story. Lovely. :)
We're planning to take a vacation to Colorado in July. In preparation for hiking, we've purchased another child carrier, the Poco. (I'm starting to think I have a baby wearing problem.) This child carrier is serious business. It is made by Osprey and is built like a pack. All the weight is distributed to the hips. It also has a lot of storage built in, which will be nice. The other carriers we have can be used with babies prior to the development of head control. In order to use the Poco, kids have to have good head control. Amelia loves this pack as she can look around at her surroundings. The only time she gets mad is when we stop walking. Hopefully it will make our short hikes successful. I'll report back on how crazy it is to take a 6-month-old hiking when we get back. :)
